Overview

Angleton Area Emergency Medical Corps was formed in 1980 and has served as the emergency medical service provider for the City of Angleton and the surrounding area ever since. Our call volume has steadily expanded since our founding, and we continue to grow and adapt to these changes to be able to best serve the public. We provide 911 ambulance service for approximately 385 square miles of Brazoria County, including the City of Angleton, Village of Bonney, the greater Rosharon area, and a large swath of the TX-288 corridor.

Who We Are

We are a combination agency with approximately 40 members, both volunteer and paid staff, that respond to calls for service 24/7/365. We currently staff 3 ambulances at the MICU level every day, we also have 2 ready reserve ambulances that can be staffed in case of disaster or for local events. Our crews responded to over 5,600 calls in 2021, with about 40% of our 911 calls being located outside of the City of Angleton.

What We Do

Our primary mission is the operation of 911 ambulance service to the residents and visitors of our service area and surrounding areas. Our crews are dispatched by the professionals at Angleton Police Departments 911 call center for all types of medical or traumatic emergencies. Once on scene our crews provide life-saving emergency medical care to the sick and injured, following the established protocols of our Medical Director, Dr. Adam Corley. Once stabilizing care has been performed we transport the patient to the closest or most appropriate hospital for definitive care.

Our crews also perform a variety of emergency, and non-emergency, inter-facility transfers. These transfer help our local hospital by moving patients to the facility that can best serve their needs. We’ve developed a strong partnership with the UTMB system and our crews regularly assist with the transferring of patients to other hospitals.

Our Equipment

We recently added state-of-the-art LUCAS 3 mechanical CPR machines to our ambulances, these devices supplement our other pieces of MICU equipment, including ventilators and cardiac monitors. This life-saving equipment dramatically improves patient outcomes in the field, we’re proud to be able to provide an advanced level of service to the residents and visitors we serve.

Have you ever wondered about the computers you see in the front of our trucks? All of our ambulances feature a cutting-edge Computer Aided Dispatch, or CAD for short, system that allows our crews to find emergency scenes faster, and to arrive better informed of what is going on at the scene. This system also allows us to better coordinate with neighboring agencies during disasters and lets us coordinate our crews during day-to-day operations.

We’re grateful to our partners at the City of Angleton and Brazoria County for their continued support in our efforts to procure the best equipment available.
